Bosses

Cas Hanwei Bosses

The proliferation of axes on the European continent is well known and for good reason, second only to the basic spear an axe head was much easier and cheaper for the medieval blacksmith to produce. Ideal for the re-enactor crafting his own shield, our 14 gauge steel bosses are spun and then polished to remove the spinning marks before being pre-drilled for attachment to the shield. These versions have a semi-conical cup, allowing more room for gloved hands.

Fencing and Sabres

Cas Hanwei Sabres

The Cromwell Sword is an accurate replica of the original “mortuary” hilt style and features a blackened guard decorated in a gold foliage pattern with a wire-wound sharkskin grip. This piece of English history is a must for the ECW collector and re-enactor. One of the rapidly growing arts within historical fencing societies is that of sabre fencing in the late 19th century Italian style, originating with fencing masters who were employed to train mounted troops in the effective use of military sabre.

Side Sword

Cas Hanwei Side Sword

It has become an essential part of the modern swordsman's equipment. Crafted in 14 gauge steel, all of our bucklers have rolled edges and come in three sizes to meet individual needs. We also offer a wide variety of battle ready shields. The Side Sword was a military sword of the 16th and 17th century Renaissance period that also achieved popularity among civilians. It also had an advantage over its contemporary, the rapier, in having the ability to cut efficiently as well as thrust.

Viking

Cas Hanwei Viking Swords

CAS has commissioned Michael Tinker Pearce to design a line of swords that will satisfy both the sparring and cutting needs of Western Martial Arts practitioners. While not a direct copy of any particular sword, the Viking sword design was inspired by historical examples from the early 9th Century, most notably finds from the area around Trondheim, Norway.
